Lumbutts Mill

Description and History of Site:-

A cotton mill was built on the site of an earlier corn mill. In 1811 the mill held ten mules with 240 spindles each. The interesting feature was the tower built about 1830 to house three water wheels vertically above each other. Together they produced about 51 hp.Occupied by the Fielden family from 1794 until 1926.
