Frostholme Mill

Description and History of Site:-

The site comprises a group of multi-storey warehouse buildings fronting Burnley Road with extensive weaving sheds built behind, against the hillside.Purpose-built, steam-powered cotton mill erected in 1860-1 and subsequently enlarged, the weaving shed in 1884-5 and the warehouse in 1892-3. A fire in 1896 necessitated the rebuilding of both the original shed and warehouse, which latter building stands four storeys high and contains the former boiler house and offices.
