Return to Map

Description and History of Site:-

Water abstraction point from the River Ouse.Brought into service in 1978 as a supplementary supply of water pumped to Eccup reservoir and water treatment works (WTW) and to Easingwold WTW. In 1996 provision was made to be able to pump river water to Elvington WTW. The amount of water permitted to be abstracted from the river was around 68 thousand cubic metres a day (tcmd) in the 1980s, rising to 142 tcmd by 2009 when the pumps and switchgear were renewed. More recently (2015) enhanced defences have been constructed to protect the works from flooding of the River Ouse.
