Settle Bridge

Description and History of Site:-

A fine double-span bridge carrying the former turnpike road and the pre-turnpike road from Kendal to Keighley, the former A65. The northern half of four chamfered ribs and is said to date to a 17th-century building phase while the southern half was a later addition to increase the bridge's width to two lanes, either in the late 18th or early 19th century. The parapets are 19th century.
