Description and History of Site:-

It is a complex of textile mill workers' cottages built by the owners of Langcliffe High Mill to draw in much-needed labour, and the newly-built houses were advertised as available immediately for those with 'large families'. It consists of two parallel rows of two- or three-storey houses with a cobbled way in between the two rows. It is now housing in multiple private ownership. A large area of allotments was provided with the cottages. It was advertised in 1787 by the mill owner as they had found it difficult to attract workers from afar as housing was hitherto a problem.
