The Coal Office, formerly Fish and Coal Offices

Description and History of Site:-

The canal side Fish and Coal buildings were built in 1851 as part of Lewis Cubitt's design for the Goods Yard. The offices originally housed clerks who were employed to monitor the flow of coal through the yards. Two additional blocks were added in the early 1860s. The buildings were later used by staff administering the distribution of fish brought into London through King's Cross, hence the name Fish and Coal Buildings. The buildings were gutted by fire in 1983, and have remained abandoned until now.

Now known as The Coal Office.

Part of the King's Cross redevelopment (a 67-acre site under a brand new postcode - N1C).
