St Katharine Dock

Description and History of Site:-

Telford's Western Dock, Eastern Dock and Entrance Basin, 1826-9, survive with 'I' Warehouse by George Aitchison Sr built on site of King's Warehouse 1858-60. Wooden warehouse, late C18th for a brewery, in 1974 moved 250 ft to present site, now Dickens Inn. Redeveloped for tourism, some Thames barges moored here. Historic ship collection now dispersed, some in West India Docks.
