Greenwich Market

Description and History of Site:-

Small market situated in the middle of the central Greenwich road scheme. It was designed by Joseph Kay, 1831, for wholesale fruit and vegetable sales with more recent overall roof. Above the north inside entrance is inscription 'A false balance is abomination to the Lord but a just weight is his delight'. Now a popular craft market at weekends. Over this entrance is former 'The Royal Clarence Music Hall' used 1839-91, 46 ft x 24 ft with small stage reached by door from first floor of next door pub now a restaurant.
