Billingham Branch Bridge

Description and History of Site:-

Billingham Branch Bridge. Constructed in 1934 as part of the northern approach road to Newport Lift Bridge. It was the first all welded portal framed bridge.Designed by Mott, Hay and Anderson, engineers; built by Dorman Long & Co Ltd. Steel, concrete and brick. The Billingham Branch railway closed c1985.
