Ice Factory, Thomas Street, Halifax

Caption :- From around 1826, until 1898, this site was occupied by two wool warehouses. In that year they were demolished to make way for this three storey ice factory and cold store, used by traders when the Piece Hall operated as a fish, fruit and vegetable market. It operated until at least 1936, and is now occupied by youth education centre, the Orange Box. Photo. October 2011.
