Ebor Mill

Description and History of Site:-
The main mill building was completely gutted by fire on 14th August 2010 and subsequently demolished. The chimney and some later buildings including the weaving sheds are still extant. Mill and warehouse built in 1819 by Hiram Craven and Sons as a water powered worsted spinning mill. On completion it was leased to Townsend and Co., Worsted Spinners and Manufacturers. In 1834 Townsend and Co were taken over by the newly formed partnership of Craven and Sugden who ceased manufacturing there in 1851 when the mill was acquired by the Merrall family who were successful there, enlarging and modernising the mill.

Airedale Springs, which had been in business since 1945, moved into Ebor Mills in 1988.
