Description and History of Site:-
Calder and Hebble lock-keeper's or lengthsman's cottage facing Brookfoot Lock at the eastern end of Freeman's Cut. Single storey with three bays, hipped stone slate roof and canted bay with central doorway. Recently restored. The cut between Elland and Brookfoot passing via Park Nook, known as Freeman's Cut, was dug during 1824. This and a similarly designed lock-keeper's cottage at Elland Lock (qv) were probably erected as part of this work.
