York Clifford Street Fire Station

Description and History of Site:-
Victorian, polychrome brickwork with C20 alterations. Originally built in 1855-6 as the Trinity Methodist chapel and school, which closed in 1930. At this time, York City Council wished to move from the existing fire station, then in Friargate and which could only accommodate three engines. After significant remodelling the Clifford Street fire station opened in 1938. In 2014, the fire and rescue service moved again to a new purpose built facility in Kent Street.
