Description and History of Site:-
Single storey grandiose style in grey-yellow brick. Overhanging eaves. Stone string. Huge central doorway with moulded surround set within projecting 'recess' of deep pilasters with simple caps carried as string over door. The echelon surmounted by abacus etc. Two gigantic dentils reflecting above caps. Flat top on which is flag pole. One window on each side within moulding. To north; two storeys four bays simple standard sashes. South side; single storey with six windows matching front. East end; single storey effect three large very plain windows without moulded reveals. Across lock two single storey buildings in white brick of different builds simple neat. Built near the lock by the Ouse Navigation Trustees in 1824-5 as a meeting place.
