Allerston Mill

Description and History of Site:-
Fine good stone mill of 3 storeys and loft. 4 bays with wooden leam as number 3. Arch on extreme bottom left to ex water wheel chamber surely, although floor and modern milling machinery in there now. Quite large side sliding sashes. Slate Roof. Huge monolithic stone lintels. Weathervane. (Hatcher, 1973). Former cornmill. Early C19 with later alteration. In use until the 1960s. Hatcher, 1973, reported possibly still used for 'farm milling'. Now (2017) rather nicely refurbished as a residence.
