Description and History of Site:-
Originally the corn exchange of 1845, converted 1914 to form the "Exchange Hall" Cinema, enlarged in 1933 and became known as the "Palace Cinema".
Closed in 1987, but reopened after remodeling and division into a smaller cinema and shopping mall called "The Lanes". Both these ventures closed in the mid 1990s. In 2002, the cinema was refurbished and reopened, it still operates today (2017)
