Description and History of Site:-
Basically timber construction weatherboarding. Derwent valley Light Rail Company. Prefabricated Building. The Derwent Valley Light Railway was built, primarily as a standard gauge freight line, in 1912/1913. Passengers were carried between 1913 and 1926. Freight carriage prospered through to the 1940s, but by 1973 the only section still open was that between Dunnington and Elvington. Between 1976 and 1979 a steam powered service was tried, primarily for passengers. The line, and stations, finally closed in 1981.
The site is now within the Derwent Valley Industrial Estate.
