Tocketts Mill

Description and History of Site:-
The mill has been refurbished. Tocketts Mill is a stone-built corn mill of 4 storeys with an adjoining mill house and steading. The internal waterwheel is high breast shot and measures 18 ft diameter by 4 ft broad. There are 3 pairs of stones 2 elevators a grain dresser a set of silk screens and a sack hoist in situ.
The mill is located in a caravan site. The miller's house is now occupied by the owner and there is a restaurant in the former stable block. Although there has been a mill on this site since the 17th century the present buildings probably date from the 19th century. It was restored by students from South Park College and is in the care of Tees Heritage Trust. It is run by volunteers and is open to visitors on some Sunday afternoons from Easter to the end of August (see adverts).
