Crakehall Railway Station

Description and History of Site:-
Opened in 1856 by and for the Bedale and Leyburn Railway, subsequently became part of the LNER in 1923 and nationalised in 1948 to British Railways (Eastern Region). Closed in 1954 and now a private house. The line has been re-opened by the Wensleydale Railway, the level crossing manned when the heritage line is running, the operation now manual since the signal box and gate controls survived only up until the 1980s.
