Description and History of Site:-
It is known that production of millstone roughouts occurred along the outcrops in Midgeley Wood and Walkers Wood, most likely from small surface outcrops but much of the early workings has been obliterated by later, more-organised quarrying back into the gritstone edge. No actual roughouts were located but there is ample tooling mark evidence.
