Buck Wood

Description and History of Site:-
Three abandoned millstone roughouts were located:
SE17747 39653 - lying on a natural slope, eye cut through, diameter 1m
SE17439 39286 - lying on an embankment
SE17390 39549 - lying by the canal path next to a wall 1.2m diameter, 180mm thick, early-stage roughout
A fourth one, broken in half, is said to exist but was not found by this surveyor.
Other potential sites with no roughouts scattered through the wood, some no more than 1m deep therefore very shallow delphs from which roughouts were shaped and removed. not known
