Vale Mill

Description and History of Site:-
Early large cotton spinning mill converted to worsted spinning in 1844. Built 1792. In 1833 the mill had two powerful water wheels. The oldest part of the site (only) is listed. Mills now (2019) occupied by Linear Composites Ltd, a plastics fabrication company. Built and run by the Greenwood family from 1792 until 1844. 1803 - 110 people worked at this mill. 1811 - machinery included 32 water frames with 52 spindles each.
