Thorp Arch Station

Description and History of Site:-
Hatcher noted:- Good gothic G T Andrews. Single storey. White stone. Slate roof. Wings at each end with gables Windows in pairs. Arcaded porte cochere at east end. Two storey house not as good as most of his. Still lived in. Front door has head. Nice goods station three arches and wooden extension doubling from square plan to rectangle.

The adjacent engine shed, c1850 for the York and North Midland Railway is listed grade II, no. 1319986.

Now (2018) the station buildings are a private house. G.T. Andrews designed this very attractive single storey station in 1847 on the North-Eastern Railway Company's line from Harrogate through Tadcaster to Church Fenton. The station closed to passengers on 6 January 1964 and completely on 10 August 1964.
