Manor Flint Glass Factory

Description and History of Site:-
Currently (2023) A & B Services garage unit. Operated by Tomlinson & Co Ltd with 2 x 10-pot coal fired furnaces. Raw materials were shipped in via the adjacent Dearne & Dove Canal until 1934 when the canal ceased operations, following which road transport was used. Despite the presence of a nearby railway line, there was no siding into the factory. Glass vessels were produced for a range of pharmaceutical, medical, toiletry, laboratory glassware and medical businesses, also marbles used as glass bottle-stoppers.
