Canal Basin

Description and History of Site:-
Complex basin at western end of the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal, opened in 1819. Several associated listed structures: Terminal warehouse of 1819 (II*, 1247016), Grain Warehouse of ca.1860 (II, 1271088), Wharf and coal offices of ca.1870 (II, 1247014), Offices of ca.1850 (II, 1254487), Straddle Warehouse of ca.1900 (II, 1247015), Coal staiths, drops and tunnel below former railway coal yard of 1855 (II, 1247042). Mostly restored in the 1980's and 1990's.
