Description and History of Site:-
Gritstone within the Alston Formation Sandstone outcrops at the top of the Hagg, where opencut workings are visible, but two millstone roughouts lie at the foot of the steep slope - presumably they were rolled down from their original source.
One roughout is 1.15m in diameter and 250mm thick with an eye 130mm diameter; the other is also 1.15m in diameter and 180mm thick - this was at an earlier stage and has no eye.
