Riccall Pumping Station

Description and History of Site:-
Pumping Station and small covered service reservoir. Situated approximately half way between the abstraction and water treatment facility at Elvington and the pumping and storage facility at Brayton Barff. Built as part of stage III of the Yorkshire Derwent Aqueduct scheme, to boost pressure on the pipeline and increase the flow. Together with the other works in this phase of the scheme, the capacity of the aqueduct was raised from 113 thousand cubic metres per day (tcmd) to 182 tcmd. The aqueduct between Riccall and Elvington was the last section to be duplicated (in 2002).
