Cawood Flood Defences

Description and History of Site:-
Flood defence walls and access gates.
The original flood defence walls at Cawood were concrete structures erected in 1982. These were replaced in 2009 by brick walls strengthened internally with 10-metre long steel sheet piles, driven into the ground to below the level of the river bed. Further improvements to flood defences in this area have been implemented since.
