Description and History of Site:-
Housing Estate Owned by Fred Davies,York Trailers opened in January 1968 with the manufacturing of large commercial Containers for the transport /export Industry,in 1974 it also started on the production of Commercial Trailers,in 1987/8 it was taken over by United Carriers but still keeping the York name,in 1991 the company went into receivership and closed with the loss of 270 jobs,it was bought by Wordsworth Holdings of Grantham and re employed 70 staff .1997 Utility International from America rented the factory to produce there own style of an American designed insulated box trailer but they left in 2002 and the factory shut down for good and was demolished 2003
