Description and History of Site:-
Grosmont Ironworks. Two blast furnaces were built by C & T Bagnall in 1862 and a third in 1875. The works closed in 1892. Remnants of the third furnace base can be seen in the NYMNP car park together with the foundation for the boiler house chimney and twin brick towers that may be connected to the slag reprocessing plant. More remains are hidden among the trees and undergrowth to the east of the site.
