Description and History of Site:-
Wrack Hills Ironworks or Wreck Hills Ironworks Runswick. Both the Main and Top Seams were worked by the Albert Iron and Cement Works. Construction started in 1856 but after difficulties and a landslip the works were closed in 1864. The foundation courses of the harbour wall can be seen on the foreshore and the remains of the calcining kilns some 20m above on the steep overgrown cliff. On the cliff top can be found the reservoirs used to supply water to the ironworks
