Swainby Mill

Description and History of Site:-
In 1974 Jane Hatcher noted: Three storey mill with gable end forming pediment to facade. Between good house and stables complex. Lovely large yellow ashlars with herringbone tooling. Square windows with Yorkshire sliding sashes. Pantile roof to mill and stables slates on houses. All three of one build. Watercourse dry. Was converted to electricity. Water came in on middle level through semi-circular arched opening like Bransdale. The wheel was therefore interior. Nice kneelers. Monolithic lintels.
