Description and History of Site:-
Currently disused. Exterior c. 12 wheel in situ overshot wooden penstock and sluice. Small mill two storey rubble stone and slab roof. Stone steps in front for loading on/off cart. Upper floor: door at top of steps and one sash window both under wooden lintels. Lower floor: door below road level with huge wedge-shaped stone lintel like gatepost and small square barred opening with stone casing almost like a water-chute. Damaged inscription stone as post to lower door letters not clear. The other post also appears to have inscription perhaps DW but not at all clear. Sun Insurance Fire Mark on upper door. Another window with stone casing (blocked) behind the steps at the front. Another inscription on quoin in square box again. Wheel has wooden spokes and paddles metal. Water course has overflow just short of mill water still running. Mill latterly used for pig foods name J. C. Watson on old wagon nearby. Blue stone set in cobbles outside. Primitive millhouse at right angles to mill across track hardly any windows but nice kneelers. (Hatcher, 1975)
