Bilsdale Low Mill

Description and History of Site:-
Small dales mill with wooden clasp arm waterwheel; two sets of millstones C18.
Restored in 1970 by Edward Garbutt. Private not open to the public.
There is a dam and a short leat. The 3.35m diameter wooden clasp-arm wheel is undershot. There are two sets of stones, one French burr for wholemeal flour and one Derbyshire grit for barley. Edward and Hazell Garbutt bought the mill from the Feversham Estate in 1944 and restored it in the 1970s. It is still in use occasionally (2016). On private property not open to the public.
