Description and History of Site:-
In 1974 Hatcher noted: Nice warehouse orientated towards the canal with large lucam and crane overhanging water but also very near Whitley Bridge Railway Station. Warehouse apparently used for milling, as flour-covered man was wheeling sacks of flour or meal out of it. In brick and slate, four storeys, hipped roof. Many windows blocked. Nice round arched large entrances in south and west sides. Name Croysdales on faded notice facing road.
It would appear that this was a canal-side warehouse used by Croysdale's Mill. The warehouse and adjacent maltings were subsequently demolished and revedeloped as the Maltings Industrial Estate. Warehouse built c1845 on a site by the side of the Aire & Calder Navigation with the Leeds & Selby Railway just to the north. Croysdale's Mill was established c1845 at Whitley Bridge on a nearby site in Selby Road just to the north east of the railway line. A canal-side warehouse would have been highly advantageous for the supply of grain for milling and the transport of the finished flour. The site was cleared and redeveloped late 20th century.
