Newton 4th Lock

Description and History of Site:-
Lock, c.1790. Robert Whitworth, Engineer. Dressed sandstone, rebated for gates which are of wood. Coping is ramped and sweeps out to basin at lower end.

Also know as Mike Clarke Lock in tribute to president and founder of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal Society.
