Brompton Railway Station

Description and History of Site:-
Single storey, brick with stone dressings and slate roof. Two wings at right angles, giving effect of a gable. Incredibly, four chimney stacks rise from this building. Opened in 1858 by the Leeds Northern Railway, which later became part of the North Eastern Railway. It was closed in 1965. The buildings were extant when Jane Hatcher recorded it in April 1973. It was subsequently demolished and the site cleared. A small goods yard - also cleared - had been just to the south west of the passenger station.
