Knox Mill

Description and History of Site:-
Strange set of buildings. 1785 would fit. Basic typical block which has some 'factory paned' windows. Much altered and some modern brick additions. Wheel and machinery in situ. Wheel perhaps was on exterior of original block encased in stone extensions. Original block 3 storeys and loft. (Hatcher 1973). Water power was derived from the adjacent Oak Beck. At the time of Hatcher's visit (June 1973) the mill was in use by BOCM Silcock (British Oil & Cake Mills) producing animal feeds. The building shown is shown as 'Knox Mill' Corn on the OS 25" maps of 1890, 1909 and 1934. At the end of the 1970s the mill was converted to residential housing.
