Bedale Railway Station

Description and History of Site:-
1855 Northallerton - Bedale line - The Newcastle & Darlington Junction railway Bedale Branch Act of 26th June 1846 authorised a railway from the vicinity of Bedale Hall to the Great North of England railway at Northallerton. Promoted by George Hudson but opened after his fall, a shortage on money resulted in the line only being opened as far as Leeming Lane (Great North Road) on the 6th March 1848. Missing section Leeming to Bedale financed by York Newcastle and Berwick railway at a cost of £5,000. Station opened 1st February 1855.

Re-opened by Wensleydale Railway in 2003.
