Former Aeroplane Factory

Description and History of Site:-
Originally roller-skating rink and therefore offering large unobstructed floor area, suitable for aeroplane construction. Premises originally used by coachbuilding firm of Mulliner, 1910-11 for building and repairing aircraft. 1912 premises taken over by Mrs Hilda Hewlett and M. Gustave Blondeau, French aviator, in partnership, naming it Omnia Works. 1914 moved to larger premises at Leagrave, Bedfordshire. Omnia Works still exists as Snooker Club.

February 2023: Works has been demolished and replaced by a block of flats. A blue plaque has been put on the new building by The Battersea Society, this reads "HILDA HEWLETT 1864-1943 PILOT AND AIRCRAFT MAKER".
