Description and History of Site:-
Three stations have existed here. 8 February to December 1836 temporary structure was northern terminus of London and Greenwich Railway. Third station built by SER 1867. Closed as SE&CR 15 March 1915. Traces of platform at track level. At ground level five arches of viaducts filled in, forming the station. Two still labelled booking hall and SECR. Others fitted with cast-iron shop fronts e.1899 by McDowell & Steven & Co. Ltd. The address is Spa Road that gets its name from Bermondsey Spa. Built in 1770 on the site of a mineral spring making Bermondsey a Spa town where people came to drink the waters. Bermondsey Park now occupies the site.
