Description and History of Site:-
Circular brick water tower built in 1885 . The tower was built in good quality red bricks laid in English bond, with panels to give a fluted effect and the tank is roofed by a sheet metal dome. Water is stored in a cast iron 30ft (9.15m) diameter cylindrical tank which holds 30,000 gallons (136 cubic metres). The water tower is now disused but was Listed Grade II in 1978. Described by Hatcher as - fine brickwork fancy 'crown'. Thickened buttresses. Very tall and slender. Lower part of staircase removed because of children playing in it.
