Description and History of Site:-
Dreadfully tatty orange brick and cheaply pretentious Queen Anne stone dressings. Situated alongside Beverley and Barmston Drain (Hatcher, 1974) Founded in the 1860s by Frederick Needler and incorporated in 1902 as Fred Needler Ltd. In 1906 these larger premises were built on Bournemouth Street off Sculcoates Lane in Hull. Principally famous for the manufacture of chocolate and boiled sweets, the factory closed in 2002 to be replaced by a housing development 'Needlers Way'.
