West Tees Rail Bridge

Description and History of Site:-
The Darlington and Barnard Castle Railway line up Teesdale was completed in 1856 and taken over by the Stockton & Darlington Railway Company in July 1858. The West Tees Rail Bridge has four shallow 12.2m segmental masonry arches to carry a single railway track The bridge was bought by Durham County Council in 1990 with the intention of incorporating it into the planned 120 kilometre Teesdale Way.
