Winston Bridge

Description and History of Site:-
The 34m single span segmental masonry arch at Winston was completed on 2 August 1763. It had a longer span than any previous arch over the river and it required considerable skill from the masons who were employed in its construction. It took five years to complete. It has been strengthened using tie bolts to restrain the spandrel walls which has had a detrimental effect on the appearance.
