Kirkstall Power Station - Leeds

A view of the coal handling facilities at Kirkstall Power Station. Coal was lifted from the barges using 40 tons capacity grab-buckets and telphered across to the 300 ton wet coal bunker contained in the steel structure just left of centre. From this bunker coal could be conveyed to an outside coal dump (off to the left of the picture), or directly to the drying house via the conveyor rising to the right. From the souvenir brochure of the opening of the power station in 1931.
