Bailey Hall Railway Viaduct

Description and History of Site:-
Rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings. Curved plan with nine shallow round arches with ashlar voussoirs and moulded imposts. The three lowest arches to the north east are now blocked. Erected 1848-50 by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company. Later alterations to track configurations required alterations to the parapet at the south west corner above Berry Lane, involving the incorporation of re-used cast iron sections thought to have originally formed part of an earlier cast iron bridge.
