Trafalgar Works

Description and History of Site:-
Red brick chapel building converted for industrial use, and with a handful of small workshop premises adjoining. Erected in 1896 as a mission chapel, it changed to industrial use during the 1930s. Farrar Brothers, manufacturers of 'Farbro' brand brushes occupied the premises from at least 1936, and though no longer manufacturing, still distribute brushes from the site. Another, long standing tenant was Fred Stocks, heating engineers. A number of small businesses have operated from several workshop premises which stand immediately behind the Trafalgar Works, the occupants of which have included Edwin Radcliffe, fent and remnant dealer and the Surprise Metal Polish Co. in 1905; Messrs W. & J. Davey, skep manufacturers and Albert Tozer, brass founder in 1936. In 1947 a small brass foundry was extended into an adjoining garage along Moorfield Street.
