Description and History of Site:-
Established in 1826 on a site in the Dearne Valley to serve the linen weaving industry in nearby Barnsley. Additions in the late 1830's created a plan that had been little altered by 1895, with principal buildings around courtyard, steam engine and boiler house in corner and service buildings, including gas house, beyond. House adjacent, two reservoirs in surrounding grassland. Site closed in 1907. Demolished. (Giles and Goodall). Currently (2019) the site is occupied by a kennels and cattery
