No Documents, Images or Media files have been added for this site

Description and History of Site:-
Incline about 1000 ft long transporting silica from Stony Marl Moor - Narrow gauge During the Great War a silica quarry was opened on the moor to the south-southwest of the Ravenscar. It supplied ganister to Pickford Holland in Sheffield for the making of refractories there. To transport the ganister a 1½ mile long narrow gauge tramway connected the quarry with the brickwork's siding. The last part of the line was an incline across the brickwork's shale quarry. The narrow gauge tramroad to the silica quarry closed in the 1930s. The silica quarry continued until 1965.
